The City of Riverside is proposing five years of sewer rate increases, starting January 1, 2027, with more increases each July through 2030. These rates apply to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

What it means for your home

Monthly sewer chargeTodayJan. 1, 2027July 1, 2030

Only a written protest counts

Comments spoken at the public hearing do not count as a formal protest unless you also submit a written protest. Protests by phone or on social media (Facebook, X, and others) are not accepted. The increases will not take effect when written protests come from a majority of affected property owners.

How to submit your protest

Your protest must include:

  1. The sewer service address for the property (the assessor’s street address)
  2. A statement that you are protesting the proposed sewer rate increases
  3. Your name

Each sewer service address may submit one written protest.

Send it one of these ways:

  • Email: city_clerk@riversideca.gov
  • Mail or hand delivery: Riverside City Clerk, City Hall, 3900 Main Street, Riverside, CA 92522

Deadline: The City must receive your protest before the public hearing closes. The hearing is Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 6:15 p.m. in the Art Pick Council Chamber at City Hall, 3900 Main Street. Mailed protests need time to arrive, so email or deliver yours early.

You are welcome to attend the hearing and speak too. Bring a written protest with you so your voice is counted.
