Firefighters and police rally behind Torres’ proven leadership and commitment to community safety
RIVERSIDE, CA — Gracie Torres, candidate for Riverside City Council Ward 2 and Director on the Western Municipal Water District Board, today announced the endorsement of Riverside’s respected public safety leaders and first responders, including firefighters and police officers, an unmistakable vote of confidence in her leadership and record of service.
Torres leads all declared candidates in Ward 2 fundraising and endorsements, reflecting broad and growing support from residents, labor, and public safety professionals across Riverside.
“I am honored to earn the trust of our firefighters and police officers,” said Torres. “They know firsthand what it takes to protect our neighborhoods. I am committed to working in partnership with them to strengthen public safety, invest in prevention, and ensure Riverside remains a safe, resilient community.”
In a letter announcing the endorsement, Riverside Police Officers’ Association President Jason Alter said Torres demonstrated a strong understanding of the issues facing the city and a commitment to supporting those who serve.
“During this election cycle, our committee met with candidates to discuss the issues impacting public safety and the future of the City of Riverside. Through that process, you demonstrated a clear understanding of the challenges facing our community and a commitment to policies that support public safety and the residents we serve.”
The Riverside City Firefighters Association also announced its support for Torres’ campaign.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors and the members of the Riverside City Firefighters Association Local 1067, we are writing to formally endorse your campaign for Riverside City Council, Ward 2,” wrote Riverside City Firefighters Association President Michael Detoy.
